Sun Basin Soap is Growing

When I started as the Art Director on the Good Store team just over a year ago, one of my first jobs was, naturally, getting acquainted with all of our product lines. And listen, I would never say that I have favorites. We have some pretty amazing stuff around here. But if I’m being totally honest, Sun Basin soap and shampoo bars were always a winner for me.

Maybe it was the litany of great scents; maybe it was the rich, nourishing formulas; maybe it was the fact that each Sun Basin product came from a real, beautiful place: a hidden hollow tucked into the mountains of Missoula, Montana, where our partner Botanie Soap turns botanical oils and rich butters into products that are equal parts practical and magical.

I also quickly learned that I wasn't the only person thinking about Sun Basin. Again and again, we heard from people who loved our soap and shampoo bars but wanted more. Conditioner bars. Products for their faces. More scent-free options. 

So, naturally, we got to work. Together with our longtime collaborators at Botanie, we started figuring out how to make some of those dreams a reality. What followed was months of testing, planning, designing, reformulating, packaging, and production—not to mention taking a closer look at the Sun Basin products we already loved. Because if we were going to expand Sun Basin, we wanted to make sure that everything felt like it was “just right”.

So, I’m so thrilled to welcome all of you to the Sun Basin: a place where nature, scent, and intention coalesce. Where morning mist rises like cleansing steam, and every scent feels like a landscape you can hold in your hand. A place where story becomes substance. And starting today, there is a whole lot more to explore.

Meet the New Sun Basin Products

Conditioner Bars, At Long Last

Perhaps the most-requested addition to the Sun Basin lineup: our new Conditioner Bars are here!

Made to pair with our existing shampoo bars, these solid conditioners are rich, hydrating, and free from parabens. They come in the same four scents as our shampoo bars, so you can finally complete the set (or mix and match if you’re crazy like that):

• Bloom: Lemonade Hibiscus
• Dew Drop: Rosemary Mint
• Sapling: Juniper Pine
• Tonewood: Eucalyptus Tea Tree
• And for anyone who prefers to keep things simple, we're also introducing Enigma, a scent-free shampoo and conditioner option.
  

Face (wash) the Day

We’re also introducing our first-ever Facial Cleansing Bars! These face soaps bring the same care and attention we put into our Sun Basin soap bars to a formula made specifically for your face. Choose Clarity, a bright and refreshing citrus-scented cleansing bar, or Enigma, our scent-free option for those who would rather leave fragrance out of the equation.

A Better Way to Shave

The new Sun Basin lineup also includes two shaving bars, each designed with a slightly different routine in mind. Upcurrent is our Body Shave Bar, scented with peppermint, pine, and rosemary for a fresh, invigorating shave that turns an everyday task into something a little more elemental. Cedar Hollow is our Face Shave Bar, with a warm, woodsy scent and a formula designed to help make your shaving routine feel a little more intentional.

A Limited Edition Soap Surprise

Finally, we have something a little extra special too! Memory is a limited-edition new Sun Basin Soap Bar with a fresh blend of eucalyptus and lemon. It was also specially formulated by our unpaid intern, John Green, to evoke memories of his days in high school. This is a one-time creation: once we sell out, they’re gone forever. 

What Begins in the Basin Ripples Outward

As excited as we are about all these new products, the thing that has always made Sun Basin especially meaningful to me is what happens beyond your bathroom. Every Sun Basin product follows the same promise as everything else at Good Store: 100% of the profit is donated to charity. When you choose a shampoo bar, conditioner bar, soap, cleanser, or shave bar, your purchase helps support the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone, in partnership with Partners In Health.

So yes, these products began with people asking for conditioner. (And face wash.) (And shave bars.) But they also became an opportunity to build something bigger: a fuller collection of thoughtfully made products that care for you while helping make an impact elsewhere. After months of work, we’re so excited to finally welcome you back to the Sun Basin.
