The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) was founded 1994 by Stephen Colwell. They started because of a reverence and wonderment for corals and the beautiful environments they create, they are now one of the largest global NGOs focused exclusively on protecting coral reefs. CORAL has used cutting-edge science and community engagement for over 30 years to reduce direct threats to reefs and to promote scalable and effective solutions for their protection.
Coral reefs support about 25% of all marine life, and they are currently being threatened. The Coral Reef Alliance aims to protect and restore coral reefs worldwide. Through actionable science, community led conservation and threat reduction, CORAL works to build strong systems that support long term recovery for coral reefs.
Good Store is an official partner with CORAL, and we are currently supporting their Maui Watershed Restoration project. This project focuses on restoring the ecological health of the lower Olowalu watershed to improve the health of the adjacent coral reef. The objectives center around improving water quality, restoring critical riparian zones, and actively engaging the community in conservation efforts. By addressing land-based sources of pollution and promoting sustainable practices, we will significantly enhance the resilience of Olowalu's coral reefs.
This partnership exemplifies a model where everyday consumer choices contribute directly to improving healthcare access and equity worldwide. Good Store is trying to make it a little easier to do good with small acts that add up. By purchasing products that you need every day from the Good Store, you make it possible for us to channel that money into the causes that need it most. All purchases from EcoGeek directly support the Coral Reef Alliance.
