Where it Comes From

The Sun Basin

The Sun Basin is a remote valley cradled in the mountains of Missoula, MT. Wind catches words, moments, and memories, sweeps them into the sky, and settles them gently into the basin, allowing us to gather them up as inspiration and present them to Botanie, our local soap making partners. Botanie then distills the memories, mixes them in small batches with gorgeous natural ingredients, and turns out bars of soap that are good for your skin and your soul.

Where the Money is Going

Great Soap for a Good Cause

The founding goal of the Good Store is to make amazing products that donate to a good cause. One hundred percent of the profits from Sun Basin Soap go towards building the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone. We are committed to raising money not only for the construction of the hospital, but also to fund comprehensive training and staffing to tackle medical injustice at its root.

    Ungiftable

    These are ungiftable and honestly overpriced. The packaging is embarrassingly cheap, and not in a rustic low environmental footprint way. Also, these are hand cut and not poured soaps so visually the soap itself doesn’t look like something you would think of as a nice gift. I am a big fan of partners in health and the good store and I don’t mind paying more for ethically sourced products. But if you are trying to market gifts, how something looks matters. My soap goes in a basket in the bathroom until it is time to put out the new bar, this got hidden in a drawer. I am really glad I added one to a coffee order to try myself before I ordered a bunch as gifts.

    Smells good and is gentle on my skin

    I have sensitive skin, especially with fragranced soaps. My whole life, I've only been able to use fragrance free dove. I've tried other soaps, especially ones that are more natural and fragranced with essential oils but I had reactions to them. Not this one! And it smells amazing! And of course, I love that the profits go to charity.

    Very clean feel

    I typically don't like soap bars since it feels very drying but this did not have that effect! It also smells really good and quickly builds a good lather.
