Where it Comes From

The Sun Basin

The Sun Basin is a remote valley cradled in the mountains of Missoula, MT. Wind catches words, moments, and memories, sweeps them into the sky, and settles them gently into the basin, allowing us to gather them up as inspiration and present them to Botanie, our local soap making partners. Botanie then distills the memories, mixes them in small batches with gorgeous natural ingredients, and turns out bars of soap that are good for your skin and your soul.

Where the Money is Going

The founding goal of The Good Store is to make amazing products that donate to a good cause. One hundred percent of the profits from Sun Basin Soap go towards building the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone.     Great exfoliating bar!

    I ordered this soap to work on the rough spots on my feet, but it has gradually worked it's way into my primary shower bar! The coffee grounds exfoliate gently without feeling harsh, and my skin stays soft and does not dry out. The bar is long lasting (even more with the Green brothers tip of fusing the old bar to the next one before it falls apart!)

    My FAVORITE

    I absolutely LOVE this soap. The coarse feel of the coffee is fabulous, and the scent is so refreshing. I want to use this soap every day, but I know I shouldn't (I don't want to over-exfoliate and irritate my skin). I'm not kidding when I say I look forward to the days that I get to use this bar because I love it so much.

    I wish a non-coffee version was made, too, so I could use it on the non-exfoliation days ;).

    The best sort of sand paper

    The grit is real! (and I mean that in the best way possible). I've tried my fair share of body soaps and this one has been the best for me. Your milage may vary, but at a minimum, it will get you to where you're going and then some.

    Best soap ever.

    I would never pay this much for something like soap.. Except, in addition to supporting important work, it's also just a really, really good soap. I buy 1 bar per month, and I start to get a back log (which I end up cutting in half for hand soaps or giving a bar to someone at Christmas), because it is surprisingly long-lasting. I like the convenience of the subscription. The soap itself is nice & sudsy, smells great, and I can use it on my whole body—including my face and (short) hair. The exfoliating scrubby bits feel so good on my skin, and the soap really does moisturize. The Forager scent is a good gender-neutral scent, kinda earthy. As an added bonus, you really can stick the little remnant of the old bar onto the new bar and it will meld together (lots of soaps don't do that successfully). The packaging is good - all paper, including the mailer. There's literally nothing I don't like about this soap.
