Summer officially begins with the solstice (June 21), but it feels more like an invitation than a date on the calendar. An invitation to stay outside longer and lean into the simple pleasures that seem to arrive with warm weather. If you're looking for inspiration on how to usher in the longest day of the year, Good Store has you covered.

Flash brew some coffee to get started

It’s going to be a long day, so you may as well get started with some caffeine. For me, a great summer day begins with some iced coffee. I recommend flash brewing, a method of brewing coffee with hot water over ice, which preserves the coffee’s flavors while cooling the hot water. You can use a French press or other type of carafe. Try it with Keats & Co Calypso Light Roast Coffee Beans - light coffee beans have maximal caffeine content.

Get a refreshing clean in the shower

There’s a restorative quality to a summer shower: removing the residue of sunscreen and sweat and replacing it with the lightly scented clean of your soap. The Sun Basin Soap Trailblazer Bright Citrus Bar Soap cleanses with a summery freshness that leaves behind a wafting citrusy scent to carry with you for the rest of the day.

Give the Sun Basin Soap Dew Drop Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar a try to experience the light and airy clean it brings to your hair, almost like minty mountain air has suffused your coiffure. Feel the wind in your hair.

Wash your bike before a summer ride

If you haven’t already this summer, today might be a good time to wash off your bicycle from its seasons in the garage or basement. Grab the EcoGeek Home Cleaning Scrub, a Long-Handled Scrub Brush, and your garden hose and get rid of all the cobwebs and dirt that your bike has accumulated from its time in storage. Get your bike ready for all its summer adventures and treks.

Have a mid-day rest and cool yourself off

Gather yourself and take some time to cool off with a nap in the shade, or in front of a fan or the A/C. Have a damp EcoGeek Swedish Dish Cloth at the ready, to wipe your brow and dab cool water on your pulse points to help yourself cool down from a day in the sun and temperatures. Daydream about all the ways you’re going to have fun this summer.

Entertain friends on your porch or deck with iced tea that evokes Midsommar

In the evening, gather some friends together to celebrate the arrival of summer. Cultures around the world celebrate the summer solstice - in Scandinavia, floral crowns, maypole dancing, and strawberry desserts are among the elements that herald the new season. Druids leave flowers and herbs at Stonehenge as offerings that symbolize abundance and fertility. Brew some iced tea to serve your friends that evoke these traditions, like Keats & Co Sweet Briar Botanical Loose Leaf Herbal Tea. Find the ways that you’re experiencing the change of seasons and imagine new ways of celebrating with your friends.
