I used to be pretty conservative with my socks and underwear choices. My very pragmatic rationale was, “if I’m probably the only one seeing this stuff most days, then why does it have to be anything other than a neutral color?” And that’s a valid line of thinking for some. But as I’ve gotten older and life has seemingly no intention of settling down, I’ve begun to rethink some of my younger and less vulnerable concepts. Why WOULDN’T you want to have the secret knowledge that your socks match your underwear most days? How is it NOT amazing to know that independent artists designed what you’re wearing? Wouldn’t you want to find small moments of excitement in the smallest places? 

Luckily, we've got something pretty exciting happening at Good Store right now: the Awesome Socks Club and Awesome Undies Clubs are officially NOW open for new subscribers! If you've been thinking about joining, or you've been meaning to restock your collection of everyday essentials with something a little more interesting, this is your chance. Our signup window is only open for a limited time, and once it closes, you'll have to wait for the next round sometime next year.

For those who are uninitiated, these clubs are different from your average sock subscription (are there “average sock subscriptions?). Every delivery brings you an original, artist-designed pair of socks or undies, featuring artwork from an independent artist. We don’t tell you what the design is beforehand, so it’s a surprise when your package arrives every month. You get something fun and unexpected to add to your wardrobe, and 100% of the profit goes toward supporting maternal healthcare. Not a bad deal for something you're going to wear anyway!

The Awesome Socks Club has been around since 2020, when Hank Green had the very good idea that we could take something everyone needs, make it a little more fun, and use it to support an important cause. Six years and a whole lot of incredible designs later, we're still at it.

Each delivery features a brand-new design by an independent artist, so you're always getting something different. We're talking bold colors, unexpected patterns, charming little illustrations, and all sorts of creative surprises. You can choose between crew and ankle styles, with a few different size options, and decide how often you'd like a fresh pair to show up.

You can sign up to receive one pair every month, every other month, or every three months. And here's a little something to look forward to: your first pair will ship in January 2027, giving you a pretty great way to kick off the new year. (Personally, I can't think of a better way to start January than with something OTHER than a pile of holiday laundry.)

And because we believe your entire top drawer deserves a little more personality, we've now got the Awesome Undies Club, too!

Just like the socks, every pair features original artwork from an independent artist. They're made with a super-soft, comfortable fabric, and you can choose between hipster and boxer brief styles. You can choose a monthly, every-other-month, or quarterly delivery schedule, depending on how quickly you tend to go through your undies drawer. And unlike the socks, your first pair is coming up a little sooner: undies will begin shipping in November 2026! So if you've been waiting for a sign to give your everyday essentials an upgrade, consider this it.

Of course, the best part of these clubs goes beyond the designs (though I really do love the designs coming up in 2027). Both clubs support the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone, an initiative with Partners In Health working to expand access to quality maternal healthcare. Every subscription helps make that work possible, with 100% of all profit going toward the cause.

It's a pretty wonderful thing when something as ordinary as getting dressed in the morning can be part of something bigger. You get a little surprise in the mail, independent artists get to share their work with the world, and together we're helping support a healthier future for mothers and babies.
