Why This Product
Forget the clunky pods and overpackaged detergents—this powder keeps things simple. Developed in partnership with dishwasher powder enthusiast Alec Watson of Technology Connections, it cuts through grease, leaves dishes spotless, and skips the plastics and toxins. Even better: every load helps restore coral reefs. Clean dishes, clear conscience.
Where it Comes From
EcoGeek is proud to partner with Green Llama, a woman owned business operated out of Tennessee. They believe that sustainable cleaning products can be just as effective as their mainstream alternatives -- and they've set out to prove it.
Where the Money is Going
EcoGeek is giving 100% of profits to the Coral Reef Alliance, specifically the Maui Watershed Restoration project. The Coral Reef Alliance tackles the complexity of coral reef die-offs by working in and out of the water. The Maui Watershed Restoration project is a land based project to reduce sediment runoff that blocks sunlight from reaching the coral reefs of Hawai'i.
It’s hard to explain how much this powder surpassed my expectations. My dishes come out feeling soft. I don’t know how else to describe it. I assume my old detergent always left a residue that you could feel and I just thought they were old. The dishes don’t have a weird smell lingering anymore. And most of all, it got the coffee stains out of my latte cups! i took a photo of one that hadn’t gone through with the new powder and one that had. They both looked like the one on the left before. I used to have to scrub them with baking soda to get the stains out. Needless to say, I’m buying this powder for as long as it exists.
Like many people here, I saw the Technology Connections video that mentioned this product and had to try it for myself.
This is a very good dishwasher detergent, hands down. I only need to use 2 tsp per full load in my 10-year-old basic Frigidaire dishwasher and I am getting excellent results from that.
There is absolutely zero residue or leftover detergent grains on the dishes, and the dishes truly do come out with more shine than they did with my old Meijer brand detergent powder. This seems to do a good job with coffee stains (which tends to be my biggest dish issue generally) compared to the Meijer stuff so I am really happy with that.
I would actually give 4.5 stars if I could though, and that's because the consistency of the powder is excessively fine and dusty in my opinion. If I'm not very careful closing the pouch it tends to puff up with dust that I can taste and also feel in my lungs when breathing which can't be a good thing long-term.
The price is very high but it really does seem to clean better than the store brand powder I was using before. If they could find a way to bring the cost down some (or perhaps offer a bulk package) and also reduce the dustiness, this would be a perfect detergent for me.
This does work, however, the price is much higher than even the more expensive brands in the markets and/or Anazon... such as, Cascade, which I use and have never had issues with... however I do like this product, just lower the price! Black Friday is approaching fast!
Now granted, I don't do the cleaning of the dishes. I do all the cooking and mess making. But I definitely notice if something isn't clean when I get to work in the kitchen. This powder is doing a bang up job of cleaning my coffee cups, my dinner dishes, the eight million spoons I use in a day somehow... it's great. My only quibble is that it is very dusty sort of powder, so don't inhale right next to the package when pouring it. In order to cut down on the dust and make dispensing as easy as possible, I packed it into a 32 ounce mason jar. The lid has a handle and spout, so it can be dispensed right into the washer.
Works much better than our previous brand.
