As a self-proclaimed Christmas Connoisseur, I have a few strongly held holiday convictions that may border on the slightly weird. I’ll spare you the details of most of them (remember to ask me about my thoughts on why we need to ban Wonderful Christmastime from radio play sometime), but there’s one in particular that I do feel like sharing: I think the Christmas stocking stuffer is one of the more under-utilized gift frameworks these days. Sure, you can toss a little candy and some lip gloss in a sock and call it macaroni, and sure, there are some presents that just don’t fit in a regulation stocking anymore. But I argue that big things can come in small packages! Why spend time and money on some frivolous gifts that are expected in a stocking on Christmas morning when you can surprise your loved ones with some small joys that they’ll really get some use out of?
