Where it Comes From

The Sun Basin

The Sun Basin is a remote valley cradled in the mountains of Missoula, MT. Wind catches words, moments, and memories, sweeps them into the sky, and settles them gently into the basin, allowing us to gather them up as inspiration and present them to Botanie, our local soap making partners. Botanie then distills the memories, mixes them in small batches with gorgeous natural ingredients, and turns out bars of soap that are good for your skin and your soul.

One hundred percent of the profits from Sun Basin Soap go towards building the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone.     pretty and refreshing cleanser

    I've been using this cleanser for a couple weeks now and I really like it. First, looking at it makes me so happy. It's so beautiful. Every time I wake up and I feel stressed, seeing this at my bathroom counter gives me a sense of calm.

    If you've been using the shampoo bars, you know that it really works away at your oils. If you're not into that, then I wouldn't recommend this product. Personally, I like when products really strip away the oils, so I appreciate this cleanser. Super refreshing. If anyone has used the tea tree cleanser at trader joe's, it kind of reminds me of that. With my acne prone skin, I wouldn't say this cures my acne; it keeps it managed at best as would a normal cleanser. And that's fine, I wasn't expecting it to work magic. I sometimes switch between using my acne cleanser and this one. I've been using this in the early mornings to wake me up, but I might switch it around as an end-of-day almost like a makeup remover. Still trying to find a good balanced routine.

    It is unscented, but it does have a slight refreshing, spicy scent. Not that noticeable.

    I received this as part of their soft launch in exchange for my review, and at that point I didn't know how to use it so I just sort of lathered it on my wet hands and put the suds on my face. But now that I'm looking at the pictures, I realize I'm supposed to put the actual soap on my face and lather from there. The direct application feels really nice and relaxing.     Made my acne go away immediately!

    My skin has been doing very poorly with the heat, constant sunscreen and polluted air, but this genuinely made all that go away in a couple days use! It soaps nicely and is truly fragrance free, don't need much to be able to clean my face. Only downside is it's very soft so melts into soap holders easily

    Sunscreen? No problem

    I tried this facial cleanser on a day where I was wearing two layers of sunscreen (reapplied) and sweated a lot!! Usually I do a double cleanse with Cerave so I tried a double cleanse with this bar as well. The first round took almost everything off, and the second round absolutely cleared it all up! It didn't leave my face too dry as some facial bar soaps do, and I appreciate that it was fragrance free. The size of the soap is pretty generous too — I can see myself taking some time to use the whole bar up :)

    Nice for body but still intense as a facial cleanser

    I prefer very gentle cleansers or oil cleansing, so I was excited to try this! However, I still found the soapy element of it to be a little extra "squeaky clean" stripped feeling that I don't really love for my facial skin. That being said, I think it's a lovely bar for the body and it's a great scent and I didn't have any bad reactions to it at all! I bet it would be really great for acne prone skin.
