    Wicks are too difficult to burn

    It pains me to give anything on this store such a low rating, but I bought two of these candles and they have been such a hassle to burn. Many of the 5-star reviews mention the wicks being tricky, but I cannot downplay how low-burning and inconsistent the flames on these are, and I don't feel like it's reasonable to have to stick a bunch of matchsticks into the wax or whatever else people are doing to get them to work.

    These are not my first wood wick candles, but trimming the wicks on these each time is a hassle because they are already VERY short. There isn't enough length for the flame to melt much wax to expose more of the wick either, so they're doing that thing where they leave a big wall of wax around the outer edge and only burn through the very center. They are also constantly just snuffing out on their own.

    Is it the most challenging thing in the world? No. Is it the most challenging CANDLE I've ever had to deal with? Yes.

    The only good thing I can say about them is that they do smell pretty great.

    Sun Basin Wooden Wick Candle

    This candle is so strong! It projects across the entire house and makes it smell amazing! I got the Dawnfire version and it smells like citrus with a woody undertone, not at all like cleaning supplies

    Great scent; burns well

    Really love these little candles and they actually burn for quite a while! I’ve seen comments about the wick burning weird so I wanted to share that with wooden wicks it’s SUPER important to trim the wick each time before you light it. I do this by just brushing it with my finger, breaking off the soft top sooty part and leaving about an either of an inch before I light it. 🔥

    lovely scents!

    I got the "On the Trail" and "Dawnfire" scents for myself, and both are lovely! I like the former the best; it's a sweet yet complex blend. Both scents remained in the room a few hours after blowing out the flame as well, so it's very strong despite the mini size, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Looking forward to using these throughout the season to add some warmth to winter nights! <3

    I'm only docking one star since one of the candlewicks was tricky to light (it wouldn't stay lit for long, then got too short after a few attempts), but I fixed this by sticking a few matchsticks into the candle around the wick on the advice of another reviewer. I'm not used to wood wicks, so maybe there was user error there -- the care card says to make sure it's at a proper length before lighting, so I'll keep that in mind for next time :)
