Good Store Subscriptions Surprise and Delight (with Delightful Surprises)

Why Good Store Subscriptions Go Above and Beyond with Thoughtful Details | By Caitlin Hofmeister

You know what I secretly love more than opening presents on Christmas? Random presents in the mail. So much of what shows up in my mailbox is ads, bills, political surveys … all things that I honestly just pile by the front door until the mess drives me into a fit of decluttering rage. But when I get good mail, like a zine or a letter from a friend, it calms my rattled nerves, reminding me that I’m actually delighted by the world and the postal service.

Good Store Delivers on Good Mail

Beginning with Awesome Socks Club, Good Store started as a hub for subscriptions of whimsical essentials. Getting a pair of socks as a gift doesn’t sound exciting, but opening your mailbox on a random Tuesday and getting a pair of cozy socks with a fun pattern designed by an artist while contributing directly to making the world suck less? That’s pretty wonderful.

A new scent of soap, a new tea blend, or a new assortment of cleaning essentials is the fun surprise that makes Good Store subscriptions the gifts that keep on giving, but there are so many more delightful details to these subscriptions, too.

Good Things Come in Artistic Packages

One of the best parts of any good piece of mail (I think) is the packaging itself. I love getting a letter closed with sealing wax or washi tape. Which is why I also love the recyclable, compostable, biodegradable envelopes each pair of Awesome Socks (or Awesome Undies) arrives in. On the front of each cardboard envelope is a letter from The Good Store Team letting me know they appreciate me, they hope I like the socks, and there’s an update on how much good The Awesome Socks Club has done in the world. As I’ve grown my awesome sock collection, I’ve watched the amount donated to build a better healthcare system in the Kono District of Sierra Leone grow from $8,000,000 to $11,000,000+. I feel more hopeful and connected to the world before I even unwrap my new socks!

Surprises and Hidden Gems

And then when I do open that compostable packaging, my socks are tucked into a little folder with information about the artist who designed them, and a QR code to learn more about them, their art, and all of the Awesome Socks Club artists.

That sweet packaging extends to all the Good Store products. Some of my favorite hidden gems are on the bottom of all bags of Keats & Co coffee and tea. A mail-ordered product doesn’t have to look beautiful on the shelf; it could just come in a brown bag. But Good Store leans the other way, and I love them for it. Not only is there art on the front and back of every bag of coffee or tea, there’s even art on the bottom! Who will see that? Maybe just me! It makes me so happy!
