Awesome Socks Club’s November 2025 Artist: Cameron/Spike (crocojaws)

ASC’s November Artist is all about cats, clusters, and cozy creativity.

This month at Awesome Socks Club, we’re excited to feature Cameron/Spike (he/him), an illustrator and tattoo artist from KCMO whose playful, organic style brings the everyday and his beloved pets to whimsical life. Spike’s work spans digital illustration, inks, watercolor, and charcoal—and for November, they’ve immortalized some furry friends in sock form. His design is a purrfect companion for these crisp autumn days.

An Interview With Awesome Socks Club's November Artist

Hi! In a sentence (or two), how would you describe yourself and your work?

I'm Cameron, I'm an illustrator and tattoo artist living in KCMO with my two cats! I have spent way too much money replacing electrical cables and chargers because of them...

I like to make cartoons, clusters, and cats.

What mediums do you like to work in?

I do a lot of digital work but I am a big fan of working with inks, watercolor and charcoal!

As an artist, are there any tools you can’t leave the house without? 

My ipad for simplicity's sake. I feel like I never remember to pack the pen I wanted, or the right color marker, or it turns out that I grabbed the wrong sketchbook, haha.

If you were an environmental storytelling skeleton, how do you think you'd be found?

Surrounded by books, all bookmarked around the first 10-50 pages.

What drew you to the imagery of November's design?

They are based on my cats and my friends' cats. I thought it would be a fun way to immortalize them in a project.

Can you talk a little about your design process? Where do you draw your inspiration from, and how do you workshop your design from draft to final? 

I tend to just make shapes and figure out how they fit together before deciding on the details. I default to drawing trees (or my cats) since those are in front of me most of the time. Organic forms are much easier for me to play with and make any errors look intentional.

Do you have a favorite feature of the sock design?

I am a big fan of their faces.
