Awesome Socks Club’s January 2026 Artist: Salomée Luce-Antoinette
ASC’s January Artist is not a bird, nor is she a plane—but she is a fantastic comic artist.
This month, Awesome Socks Club is excited to spotlight Salomée Luce-Antoinette (she/her) as our January artist! Saly is an Afro Caribbean comic artist from Martinique who has previously drawn for Dauntless Stories, Image Comics, DC Comics and Tiny Onion, to name just a few. She started drawing at only 6 years old, but what really inspired her to pursue comics as a career was an X-Men comic she read when she was 12. We got to ask Saly a few questions about her explosive design before she had to fly off to her next adventure.
An Interview With Awesome Socks Club's January Artist
Hi! In a sentence (or two), how would you describe your work?
If I had to describe my work in a sentence or a word,I would say it’s vibrant.
Do you have any favorite themes you enjoy working with?
I like to work on themes that inspire me. Stories that focus on interactions between character and community. I also like fantasy and horror.
What mediums do you like to work in?
I mostly focus my work on digital art to make comics or illustrations.
Do you have a dream project you'd like to work on someday?
It’s not exactly a dream project but I’d like to work a comic series with multiple issues. Either working on the pages or doing covers for it.
What is the strangest/goofiest (PG) fact about yourself that you're comfortable sharing?
A fun fact about me: I used to be in a lightsaber fight club.
What drew you to the imagery of January’s sock?
The Good Store Art Director suggested the design idea to me after looking at my work. It does fit the dynamics and the bold colors I use in my work. I took inspiration from classic comics, either from American comics or French ones. I made rough sketches in black and white and I chose the colors depending on the themes I had in mind.
What’s your preference: Ankle or crew socks?
Crew socks, always crew socks!!
