The Good Store was founded by Hank and John Green on the belief that humanity can be good news. We’re searching the world for the best versions of the products that you use daily, made by the best people, and then we’re giving all of the profits from those products away to those who need it.
You're going to need to buy socks; you might as well do it in a way that brings a little joy to your doorstep every month while supporting independent artists and donating 100% of profit to charity.
Top shelf tea and coffee that is changing the world one sip at a time. Keats & Co adds a little good to your daily routine by donating 100% of the profit from every cup to fund long term tuberculosis treatment in Lesotho.
We partner with Botanie, a family run business out of Missoula, Montana, to bring you luxurious handcrafted soap and shampoo bars. Botanie uses all natural ingredients that leave you feeling nurtured, fresh, and ready to take on the day.
EcoGeek is your one stop shop for best-in-class cleaning products that are non-toxic and eco-friendly. We’ve scoured the internet to bring you a collection that is easy on your family and on the planet. Plus we donate 100% of profit to coral reef restoration in the Pacific Ocean.
I’m Nicole Zaridze (she/her) and I am an illustrator and comics artist based in Toronto, Canada :)
In a sentence, how would you describe your work?
Your stream of consciousness.
Do you have any favorite themes you enjoy working with?
Everyday living and growing and thinking and overthinking but also mythological themes…I love drawing angels and frog wizards. Blending the mundane and the mythological together is fun for me.
What mediums do you like to work in?
Digital, but I love working in my sketchbook with a (0.7!) mechanical pencil and a bunch of (half dried out) markers too.
Do you have a dream project you'd like to work on someday?
I’m working on a few stories that I want to see as graphic novels someday! It would also be cool to have an animated show.
What drew you to the phrase G2G?
I really wanted to work some text into my design, and I thought “got to go!” was funnily fitting to be on socks. And, honestly, with the state of the world, I just gotta go. Like, to the moon or something.
Can you talk a little about your design process? Where do you draw your inspiration from, and how do you work shop your design from draft to final?
I draw inspiration from a lot. My personal experiences, movies, things I find at the thrift stores, a sticker on fruit I’m about to wash, anything. I post things that I find cool to my Pinterest boards almost everyday. I also have a sweet personal collection of comics and art/coffee table books that I reference a lot and am really thankful to have.
I start my projects by dumping all my ideas and doodles onto a page or two, and then I narrow it down to a few ideas I like best, sometimes mashing two ideas together. I tend to work out my drafts as “final” as possible (perfectionist problems). Once the draft is approved, I draw my really good lineart, and then usually spend an hour or two conquering my colour decision paralysis. Thankfully, this design is black and white!
Do you have a favorite feature of the sock design?
I like the way I drew out the G2G, it scratches a good itch in my brain.
Ankle or crew socks for preference?
Crew socks!
